Starting info

• Location is in AOR shown in the map.
• Girl would have been walking west to Kayes on RN1.
• The password format is the exact name of the location on Google Maps, meaning the location is indexed.

Write-up

• Zoomed into the AOR on Google Maps using the satellite layer. First focused on where the 'x' was marked in the prompt, on RN1 south of Banaya and betweek Kabaté and Tafasriga.
• Began following RN1 west towards Kayes and clicking on location pins to check for any promising names or images that would resemble the image to the prompt.
• At this point I fell down a rabbit hole, detailed below.
• Tried searching for "childrens' homes Mali" on Google Maps, which quickly led me to Village D'Enfants Sos Khouloum Kayes.
• The building in the Google Maps listing looked similar to the one pictured in the prompt. The images were taken from different sides of the building, but the gazebo was identical and there was a very similar motif of triangle cutouts.

• That was it!

Final thoughts

Rabbit hole

• After not having any luck while first searching along RN1 I began thinking that the 'x' could be more of a general indicator and the location could be on a road just off the highway.
• I kept following along RN1, but also began looking along side roads and the towns they led to.
• This continued for way too long before I finally gave up and started plugging (mostly useless) inquiries into Google.
• Eventually I finally thought to try searching "childrens' homes Mali" in Google Maps
